VtSHARES Campaign Information and Statistics
Richard A. Snelling, Governor of the State of Vermont, issued an Executive Order establishing the State Employees’ Combined Charitable Appeal Committee (SECCA) on September 15, 1977.
The state employees conducted the first State Employees’ Combined Charitable Appeal in 1978.
Three hundred and forty-eight employees participated in the first campaign.
Those 348 employees raised $17,476.40.
The average gift was $50.22.
In 1988 state employees reached the one million dollar mark in cumulative giving.
In 2000 state employees reached the four million dollar mark in cumulative giving.
In 2005 state employees passed the six million dollar mark in cumulative giving.
In 2006 employees increased their giving by 6% over 2005 and exceeded the campaign goal of $395,200 by $4,074.
2007 was the 30th anniversary of the State Employees’ Combined Charitable Appeal, now renamed VtSHARES!
In 2007 the VtSHARES campaign generated $401,366.88.
In 2007 the average gift rose to $187.47.
Employees’ gifts to their favorite charities are voluntary and may be made by payroll deduction, cash, or check.
